THE GREAT GATSBY NOTES #2

Notes on today's class discussion......

GREAT GATSBY REMIX

I don't really know how to put in remix in this first chapter of the "The Great Gatsby," but I'll compare it to one of my most favorite books, "The Notebook." All books are meant to have an interesting twisting plot to them which makes them interesting, but we have never really noticed that mostly all books have the same ideas in them but with different wording, which comes to my point that all books are a remix of another book, and so on.

THE GREAT GATSBY NOTES

As I started following along to the first page to the first chapter, this quote caught my attention, " Just remember that all people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had." Pg. 1

Another quote, " Deserving judgments is a matter of infinite hope." Pg. 2

Characters-
Daisy- narrator's 2nd cousin once removed, unfulfilled and constantly looking forward or backwards with desire, but nothing happens.
Tom- Daisy's husband, he's ugly from the inside
Gatsby- person that owns the mansion
Miss Baker- sad and lovely, slender,  small-breasted girl
     Nick- narrator, sarcastic

Divan- synonym for a couch
Fractiousness- readily angered; peevish; irritable; quarrelsome

REMIX

I see a lot of remixes around this world I live in. You can find it in families, technology, clothes, music, and even food.

My idea on this remix project, I plan to do a remix based on fast food! Many fast food restaurants have a new item on their menu once in a while. Those new meals are just a remix of an old meal they already sale, the only difference is that they add one thing that's new.

I will work and probably get it done on Sunday because LiliyAle, and I are heading to Monterey Bay, CA for MFE/ALA Leadership Conference.

MUSIC AS LITERATURE

Novel- a fictitious prose narrative of book length, typically representing character and action with some degree of realism
Poem-  piece of writing that partakes of the nature of both speech and song that is nearly always rhythmical, usually metaphorical, and often exhibits such formal elements as meter, rhyme, and stanzaic structure
Rap- a type of popular music of US black origin in which words are recited rapidly and rhythmically over a prerecorded, typically electronic instrumental backing.
Song- a short poem or other set of words set to music or meant to be sung.
Opera- a dramatic work in one or more acts, set to music for singers and instrumentalists
Symphony- an orchestral interlude in a large-scale vocal work

Is music really considered literature?

In my opinion, I think music would be considered literature for the following reasons. Music is considered as poetry, and poetry is considered literature. Just as literature has its tone, syntax, mood, etc... music does too. Music explains its tone and mood by crescendos, sphorsandos, decrescendos, staccatos, legatos, tunutos, etc..

To be continued........ :)

HELLO 2017!

I still remember when it was January last year and my family and I were celebrating New Years. I was so excited for this new year to start and now look!!! 2017, an new year, is already here. A whole year already passed and I know I have changed so much over time. I have becomed a more passionate, caring, responsible, brace and strong person. Due to all the obstacles I had to overcome, I became a better person. I found something that I had been looking for so long and that was what I was most passionate about. The things I did and accomplished led me basically to my future and what it will be like. I found out so many things about myself that I didn't even know that I was capable of doing. Hopefully 2017 makes me a way more better person and brings many good things and challenges that will make me who I will be later in the future!!! I'm so excited for this year and whatbit holds for me!! So, with that being said....... HELLO 2017!!!!!

AP Exam Prompt Response

On June- Prompt

Education in this world is very important because it helps us develop in a very good way. It helps us grow mentally and physically. This world without education will probably be a disaster. Education is meant for everyone, no matter the age you can still get an education at a local college. Education might not seem useful to us sometimes but later on it will become useful. Education is used in our everyday lives in many ways. Education open up doors for us, opportunities that many don’t have. Just by graduating high school, some doors open up for us, but if we decide to go on further in our education studying in college, even more opportunities come our way.

There might be times where we might think that further education than high school might not be worth it. Sometimes we say that because we don’t see or know about the opportunities that will open up for us in the future. New and better opportunities can change our lives to a better one. Majoring in something can help us get paid better, better working conditions and many other things. Higher education might be really expensive, but it pays off towards the end. It might not seem worth it in the beginning but we have to understand that better opportunities will come along with the effort. As being a high school student, I can’t really say much about college because I don’t know. But of what I have heard, I can say that it’s a huge opportunity that opens up to mostly every high school graduate.

Paying for college might not be a pretty thing or something we can afford, but there’s many ways that we can make that work. Not being able to pay for it is not an excuse to not go to college. There is financial aid, grants, scholarships, students loans and many other options that many of us don’t know about. College is something we all might fear due to the money situation, but it’s something that us so worth it at the end. Being a recent graduate from high school might not get you a job immediately, but it will open opportunities for you.

This is all I was able to answer in 40 minutes... I will come back and add more to it :)
